My Favourite Songs of 2013 - #11-20

This is all happening so fast. I'm feeling light headed. You?

20. Vampire Weekend - Diane Young
You probably knew this was coming at some point or another. Vampire Weekend put out one-heck-of an album this past year and have seen themselves at the top of many "Best Of' lists. Well fellas, I couldn't think of a better way to ring in my Top 20!

19. Matt Pond - Love to Get Used
Are we happy that he dropped the PA suffix at the end of the name? Okay, let's move on. How great is this track? It's so good.

18. Arctic Monkeys - Do I Wanna Know
Ohhh, this song is so creepy. It's got the same sort of Holdin on To Black Metal vibe that My Morning Jacket hit us with last year. Shivers…meet spine.

17. Okkervil River - Down Down the Deep River
I have been mildly obsessed with Okkervil River ever since I heard For Real for the first time. Not every song is a banger but when it's right, it's so very right.

16. José González - Step Out
You probably saw this coming if you listened to my #21-30 list. I'll say it again, big year for Mr. González. This song came to me late in the year but jumped up my list very quickly. Listen!

15. Arcade Fire - Porno
I'm so predictable…I know. Lots of music sites had Reflektor pretty high on their list but every time I listen to this album, I have another favourite track. I guess that's a good sign.

14. Tennis - Mean Streets
I am REALLY loving the vibe to this Tennis song! Their past stuff always appealed to me because it had a 'Back to the Future'/Marvin Barry & The Starlighters feel to it.

13. Vance Joy - Play With Fire
I didn't know much anything about Vance Joy before 2013 started. I know a little more now. I know I like Vance Joy more than I liked Vance Joy in 2012.

12. The National - This is the Last Time
What a splendid song…album. It was a tough choice between which one of The National's tracks to put on the list (Don't Swallow the Cap, Graceless, Pink Rabbit, I Should Live In Salt) but ultimately this one struck a huge cord with me. The lyrics…oh man. The lyrics.

11. Born Ruffians - Needle
Been tracking these bad boys since the release of Red, Yellow and Blue (what a miraculous album). They play an amazing live show, all of their albums are session-able and they sound good at almost every occasion. This might be the most played song from Birthmarks but I can assure you there are many other gems in the mix. Buy it.
