Well, here we are. Before I started to put together my Favourite 50 Songs of 2013 list, there weren't a ton of standout songs in my head. I was very wrong…2013 was a pretty fantastic year for music. Take a bow.
Without further adieu, here are my favourite songs from the past 12 months. I hope you thoroughly enjoy listening as much as I enjoyed creating (and pondering…and re-listening…and re-pondering…and re-creating).
50. Phosphorescent - Song For Zula
This song really grew on me when the days got a little colder. If you are feeling sort of down in the dumps, throw this song on the headphones and go for a little walk along the ocean.
50-1. Justin Timberlake - Mirrors
Oh boy, I'm going to get harassed for this one. I am often (and unjustly) accused of being snobby about my musical preferences. 'Mirrors' made it on here to prove you wrong. Yeah, I'll admit...I didn't want to like a Justin Timberlake song. Yeah, I'll admit it…I like it. Yeah, I'll admit it…I also went to see his concert at BC Place this past August. Yeah, I'll admit it…I had a good time.
49. Mikal Cronin - Shout It Out
I was pretty surprised to see just how highly this album scored on some of my other favourite music sites. It's a solid album from start to finish and 'Shout It Out' is my favourite track.
48. Jim James - A New Life
Gawd, talk about a song that swings me both ways. When I'm in the mood for Jim James then this track is on repeat. When I am not in the mood, no thanks. On the whole it is a pretty darn good.
47. Jagwar Ma - Come Save Me
This was a big dark horse on my Top 50. It caught my ear a few months ago on 'Rollo & Grady' and it's been in the mix ever since. Good.
46. Natural Animal - Who You Are

44. Wild Child - Crazy Bird
43. Wildcat! Wildcat! - Please and Thank You
42. Young Galaxy - New Summer
41. Kurt Vile - Walkin on a Pretty Day
Oh so good. The title of this song couldn't be more perfect.
